We have an exciting opportunity for a System Infrastructure Manager to join our vibrant and growing ICT team based in our Headquarters in Birstall. As a member of the team you will play your part in protecting communities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and achieving our mission - “Safer People, Safer Places”.

Reporting to the ICT Manager you will be working alongside our multi-skilled Technical Support team, business analysts and solution developers.

The focus of the job is to support and manage our diverse “on prem” infrastructure and take a key role in helping LFRS move service provision to a cloud-based model.

You will be responsible for ensuring Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) maintain a robust and efficient VM server estate that meets key operational service levels. You will work closely with network and telecom providers to ensure a resilient and secure communication infrastructure is in place and that it allows for future growth. You will be acting a main internal supplier to our Microsoft 365 transition programme, helping us transition to Exchange on-line, Teams and One-drive. Through understanding LFRS’s strategic direction you will develop and implement an infrastructure transformation plan that allows us to fully realise the benefits of delivering services from the cloud.

The successful candidate will reflect our values – professional, positive and honest. They will be creative problem solvers who are able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of matching infrastructure capabilities to required service levels. A good working knowledge of VMs, Microsoft Server Operating Systems, Active Directory and Azure is essential. You will have good understanding of security threats and how to defend against them, as well the ability to analyse, interpret and present complex issues to a range of audiences. You will be able to work to tight deadlines and budgets and show the ability to deliver quality outcomes and achieve organisational objectives.
